As a young mother, I looked for the best sun protection solution for my children while spending time at the beach and pool.
In a tiny package from Australia, sent by a childhood friend, came colorful surfing suits made of radiation-blocking fabric. I was thrilled to have found an excellent solution to the real dangers of sun exposure and enjoyed another unexpected advantage—it was incredibly easy to spot my family on the beach in 1996. All the other kids were either naked, some covered in streaks of sunscreen, while the really dedicated parents dressed their children in T-shirts that, once wet, became sticky and uncomfortable.
Brave mothers who dared to ask, “Where can I buy one?” were met with a smile and the same answer, for two years: “Next year, I will sell them…” As a budget director at a thriving advertising agency, I had no intention of switching to textiles—until cancer knocked on my family’s door.
The tiny swimsuits from Australia transformed into a vision—a future where fewer adults suffer from skin cancer.
The blessing I received from Miri Ziv, CEO of the Israel Cancer Association, carried me through all the challenges of an energetic entrepreneur navigating an unfamiliar field. To this day, my belief in turning this vision into reality—by protecting our children and ourselves the right way—continues to guide my path.

As a first step, I imported fabrics from Australia. Cutting, printing, threads, zippers, sewing, I became acquainted with all stages of production with the help of wonderful people I discovered along the way who willingly taught me the secrets of sewing.
With a portfolio full of examples and a lot of faith in the necessity of the product, I ran around among the various buyers, most of whom showed me the door…”No one would put such a thing on their children”.
By Some… I was advised not to resign from my previous job yet.
Fortunately, I also reached out to those who believed and agreed to conduct a sales attempt in the chains they represented. In the spring of 1998, at a press conference during Skin Cancer Awareness Week, swimwear was inaugurated and Sun Wai led the great change that took place in swimwear fashion in Israel.
Instead of revealing… Wrap!
In the fall of 2006, the leaves fell on the streets of New York but inside the JavitsCenter hall, young models marched in Israeli-made SUNWAY’s swimsuits as part of Vogue Baby’s fashion show for the following summer. An exciting moment, one step, on a long road…
The children grew up and with them the sizes. The wide range of sizes and shapes allows anyone of any age to find theirSunWay . But it’s not enough to protect yourself from the sun just when going to the beach or the pool!
